Feb 24, 2011 Download EasyFind for macOS 10.6.8 or later and enjoy it on your Mac. Think Mac OS X's Spotlight could use some help, especially when searching for text files? Download EasyFind, an alternative to (or supplement of) Spotlight and find files, folders, or contents in any file without indexing. Your most important and frequently used files, folder or apps are now just a shortcut away. Mac's Spotlight feature is great, but why type a file name every time you want to access them. Open App via shortcut and enter the number on your keyboard that is listed against the file you want to access.

Description
Think Mac OS X's Spotlight could use some help, especially when searching for text files? Download EasyFind, an alternative to (or supplement of) Spotlight and find files, folders, or contents in any file without indexing. EasyFind is especially useful for those tired of slow or impossible indexing, outdated or corrupted indices, or those just looking for features missing in the Finder or Spotlight.
Highlights:
- Boolean operators, wildcards, phrases
- Extended Boolean operators, similar to DEVONthink and DEVONagent
- Immediate searches, no indexing required
- Finds invisible files and files inside packages (something Spotlight doesn't do)
- Displays the location of each file in a separate column
- Previews files using Quick Look (Mac OS X 10.5 or later)
- Provides contextual menus and services
- Supports drag-and-drop
- Very responsive, thanks to multithreading
- Uses very little memory
What’s New
- Improved support for OS X Mountain Lion and OS X Mavericks.
- Various bug fixes.
Busy Little Squirrel
I started at a new company as their Senior Designer and Marketer and quickly found out how badly (as always) the previous design and creative regime had been at filing and keeping their work folders in order.
Searching for missing links when opening In-Design files is a complete bane of the creative industry and in all honesty, must cost companies and agencies a fortune in lost time just searching and trawling hard drives and Exchange servers for badly organised work.
However, here is the perfect solution that can help you circumvent hair-headed creatives who haven't got a clue how to file and order their work properly. But the best thing is it can quickly squirrel its way through a connected Windows Exchange based file server from your Mac and find in seconds what youre looking for. All you need to do then is re-link the links in In-Design. Wallah!
Brilliant!
Great search tool
Great for finding config files, script files and other non-indexed items that you have not worked on for a while. The level of customisation and the ability to search with wildcards, within hidden folders and within files makes it hugely effective.
And it’s free. Really nothing to complain about - first rate app.
Nothing better.
It's not indexed, so it can be slow to search something complex & hidden deep in in a .plist... but it will find it!
That makes it irreplaceable as a utility.
If the dev had charged a few pence/cents for this, [s]he would have the same user-base but be making a living from it.
If [s]he ever wants to do that in future, count me in :)
