Citrix Apps Not Launching On Mac

Mac Sierra 10.12.3. Citrix.ica will not launch. So I work at a Hospital help desk and once in a while we will get callers calling from home (mostly on the weekdend) regarding launching Citrix applications on their Mac laptop. Citrix applications are launched via a Citrix portal. Users will log into the designated hospitals Citrix page (once. Symptoms or Error

When launching Citrix Receiver normally without elevated permissions, and logging in with the regular domain user account, we see applications and desktops enumerated however we cannot launch them. However, if we launch Citrix Receiver with elevated permissions and then login to Receiver with regular domain user account, we get to launch the applications and desktops.

Solution

Ensure that we have full permissions for the user account with which we are logging in to Citrix Receiver for the Registry Key (On the Client Machine) i.e. HKEY_USERSUSER_SIDSOFTWARECitrix. If the domain user account does not have permissions, delete the Citrix Registry key after taking a back up and Exit Citrix Receiver and launch it again. This Registry key will be created again with relevant required permissions.

How to open Xenapp applications using the installed Citrix Workspace client instead of the browser.

If you open a program in Citrix Workspace, and it opens in a browser window instead of using the desktop client, you will need to switch receivers.

There are two options when choosing what 'Receiver' to use:
  1. Desktop client
  2. The light version, which displays the program in your browser
If you are currently using the in-browser version (Option 2 above) and you wish to change to the desktop client:
  1. Go to https://remote.engr.wisc.edu.
  2. In the upper right hand side of the window, select your username, and choose 'Account settings'
  3. In the window that comes up, choose which receiver you would like to use, the first option for the desktop client, the second option for the web-browser-based interface.

4. Once choosing Option 1, following the instructions according to your operating system:
